Trainee Feedback: "I am over the moon about the course..."

An important part of iLearn is the feedback from trainees: at the end of each course they comment on what they have covered. This is a selection of their feedback:

"It might be a bit difficult to say what I found most useful about the course. This is because I found everything useful. If I  must mention  something however, I'd say I loved the simple way the course was designed. The questions were also very clear which helped me to answer...    The course was great."

"In all I dearly believe that the course was massively beneficial and extremely vital to the profession. I loved it all. Like Oliver Twist, I can only ask for more."

"Keep up the good work and give more assignments, I'm really enjoying this."

"I found it quite had to rationalize the historical perspective of sport and development and the use of MDGs here. However, the practical example of how the Canadian Volunteer Students managed to put up a soccer gala to achieve the objective of getting more people to test for HIV was a standing case in point that made me appreciate how sport is powerful."

"The information provided on the modules was excellent, it provided a lot of insight to me and got the discussions flowing between the Trainees, thus helping us to connect and understand the work that each and everyone of us is doing in their respective Countries and Organization...

"I believe every aspect was quiet relevant and spot on."

"Beautiful. Honestly, this course came at the right time for me and my Organization. Creating links with the Media has been one of our greatest challenges as we lacked the knowledge on how to approach, deal and using them. So through this course I have come not only to understand how to write press releases but how best to work with our local media.

"I think the course enforced some of the points i already knew about, for instance most of the issues on sports reporting and commentary i knew about, but just going over them again helped. I also benefited a lot from the first part of the module, on Media Sport and Development. I didn't think it was such a 'big deal' for the UN and all those other organisations. I guess Sports is more than just winning trophies and medals."

"Great stuff. Just wondering why only us (the trainees) get to complete it. I believe the BEEB can find ways of getting other people to go through it, especially the first part. Maybe athletes, sportsmen."

"This course provided a wonderful networking opportunity for us,I have come to understand the good work that other trainees are doing in the field of sports for development and that has given our different programs global recognition. Thank you BBC for this phenomenal opportunity, I hope this initiative will go from strength to strength,"

"Each module is very useful. Some of us who thought we are good at sport - this proved to be a real learning curve in the end. One part I liked most was the one on sport as a tool to fight HIV/Aids pandemic, hunger, poverty, education, heath as stipulated in the Millennium Development Goals and the role youth can play by participating in sport."

"I am years in broadcasting - and this my first time to have come across a course of this nature. It was an eye-opener course. Well-documented course in easy ways for people to understand it. More courses of this nature should be organized from now on - and should take place in England for at least four to six months."

"I am over the moon about the course. I think it will be nice if the course presenters recommend to our Broadcasting Companies to be trained more in the field."

"What did you find least useful about the course and why?    Everything about the cause was of great importance to me. The course helped me to understand certain things that I probably overlooked or thought were not that important."

"Brilliant course with very useful information especially for aspiring journalists like me. I believe that more courses like these I needed within the industry to help young journalists understand what is expected of them in the work place."

"Sports Reporting and Commentary has been very good. It has highlighted some of the things I thought was insignificant. For example, how important it is in commentary to mention the scoreline after every 90 seconds. A reminder of the technical aspects of preparation before an interview is conducted was also very important. I have seen and experienced happen to my colleagues at the station many a times."

"This online course has been good and effective in improving one's understanding."

"The course has given me a more clearer understanding of relating sports to various development issues especially those outlined by the UN Millennium goals. It gives a global view of how sports has been used in different areas to tackle social challenges affecting people and communities in different parts of the world. The course gives guidelines on best practices on development through sports from the research that has already been done thus avoiding organisations from re-inventing the wheel."

"The way the course is structured is great that it pushes you to remember what you have just been exposed to and answer questions as soon as possible. I found it to be good for fast learning. And above all its interesting and interactive and straight to the point."
